Canvas offers a useful option to create a link to a file and upload the file in one step. You can use this to upload your syllabus or any file in an assignment, discussion, page, or the syllabus page on Canvas. (See below for more comments on uploading files in Canvas.)

This is not the only way to upload files to Canvas, and while it is the most convenient way to link to a single file from something like an assignment, syllabus, or discussion, it does not work for all situations. For example, there is a separate procedure for uploading a file to a module. You can also upload a file to the Files area or bulk upload files, and then link to them from other parts of the course (a good option if you have a lot of files and you want to organize them–but keep in mind that students at Champlain generally do not have access to the Files view).
